The Calgary Flames aim to remain in a playoff chase as they face-off against the Colorado Avalanche on Monday in search of their first win in Denver since 2022.

Winners of 12 of their last 15 games, the Colorado Avalanche wrap up a four-game homestand on Monday night looking to solidify their playoff seeding as they welcome the Calgary Flames into Ball Arena where the Avalanche have dominated their visitors from Alberta, winning seven of the last nine meetings at home against the Flames. Calgary comes into this game off consecutive losses to playoff bound squads and sits seven points behind Minnesota for the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference with 10 games to play. The Flames have failed to make the playoffs three of the last four seasons and haven’t finished better than fifth in the Pacific Division in either of the last two campaigns.

Reigning league MVP Nathan MacKinnon leads the NHL in assists and points this season, having posted 22 points in his last 15 games and has topped 100 points for the third consecutive season. The No. 1 overall selection in the 2013 NHL Draft, MacKinnon has spent his entire career with the Avalanche, having posted seven 30-goal seasons. MacKinnon recently passed 1,000 career points and now ranks third all-time in Colorado history, joining Peter Stastny and Joe Sakic as the only players in team history to pass the 1,000 point threshold.

Flames center Nazem Kadri leads the team with 58 points this season and comes into this game on a six-game points streak, including four multi-point games in that span. Kadri spent three seasons with Colorado and helped Colorado win the Stanley Cup in 2022 before signing a seven-year deal with Calgary in the summer of 2022.

Colorado won each of the first two meetings this season by identical 4-2 scores and has won seven in a row over Calgary dating back to Oct. 2022. The Avalanche have won four straight meetings at home against the Flames with three of the four wins coming by two or more goals.
