Both coming off wins against the New York Islanders, the Canucks and Blue Jackets end their season series in this finale on Friday.

The Vancouver Canucks go for their third win in a row when they travel to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday. Vancouver leads this season series 1-0 going into the finale tonight. The Canucks won the first game 5-2 at the beginning of December with Pius Suter scoring two goals and Kevin Lankinen buckling down to become the first star by stopping 30 shots after Vancouver got down 2-0. This game might be closer on paper than one might expect with Columbus only seven points back from Vancouver and the Blue Jackets will have home-ice advantage.

Vancouver is coming off another 5-2 victory, this time against the New York Islanders on Wednesday. Kiefer Sherwood was the first star of the game with two goals and he added an assist. The Canucks were actually down 2-1 in the middle of the second but they flipped a switch and scored four unanswered goals the rest of the way. Thatcher Demko earned the third star with 26 saves for the Canucks. It was good enough to tie the season series in the finale against the Islanders.

This has been a tough month for the Blue Jackets but they got over the hump in their last game also beating the New York Islanders 4-3 in a shootout on Monday. Columbus got down 2-0 in the first but bounced back to tie the game in the second. Both teams would trade a goal to set up overtime and eventually a shootout where Adam Fantilli scored the only goal in extras on a backhander. The win ended a six-game slide which Columbus is hoping will bring some more momentum home tonight.
