The Capitals’ playoff picture can move quite a bit over the final nine games of the season, making every game crucial, starting with Tuesday night’s trip to the KeyBank Center to take on the Buffalo Sabres (35-35-5).

The Capitals catch the Sabres in the middle of a five-game homestand. Buffalo is 1-2-0 on this stretch so far. Don Granato’s team played a back-to-back Friday and Saturday, beating the New Jersey Devils 5-2 before losing to the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-0.

In the first matchup between these teams back on Nov. 22 in Washington, the Capitals came out on top 4-3 in overtime. Dylan Strome led the Capitals with a goal and an assist in that game.
