The surging Toronto Maple Leafs wrap up their homestand in a Wednesday tilt against the Columbus Blue Jackets in an Eastern Conference tilt.

Winners of eight of their last 11 games, the Toronto Maple Leafs look for their first win in the last three meetings with the Columbus Blue Jackets when the Eastern Conference foes face-off on Wednesday night. The Blue Jackets had won six straight games to start January, but have since lost each of the first two games on their current four-game road trip, scoring just one goal in the last 125 minutes of action on away ice. Columbus won the first of three meetings between the teams this season. The first was a 6-2 win behind a pair of Mathieu Olivier goals, as the Jackets raced out to a 5-0 lead in the game’s first 30 minutes.

Maple Leafs winger Mitch Marner leads the team with 67 points this season, including 52 assists, second-most in the NHL. Marner, the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, has 16 points in 10 January games with five multi-point games in that span, including each of his last three outings. In his ninth season with Toronto, Marner surpassed the 700 career points mark earlier this month and comes into this game three assists shy of 500.

Columbus ranks seventh in the NHL scoring 3.26 goals per game this season with seven double-digit goal scorers paced by winger Kirill Marchenko with a team-high 18 goals. Marchenko is two goals away from securing his third consecutive 20-goal season after posting a career-high 23 goals last season.

Columbus has won three of the last four games in this series and has won five of the last eight trips to Toronto, including a 6-5 overtime victory at Scotiabank Arena in mid-December 2023.
