After an undefeated home stand, the Dallas Stars open a five-game eastern road swing on Tuesday night as they look for their fifth straight win when they take on the New York Rangers inside Madison Square Garden. The Stars, who lead the National Hockey League in scoring defense allowing just 2.50 goals per game, have held seven consecutive opponents to three goals or less and have won five of their last six games including two in a row on away ice. The Rangers have won two of their last three games and have won five of the last six meetings against the Stars winning 3-1 in Dallas on Christmas Eve.

Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger is third in the NHL with a 19-9-1 record this season and has posted a career best 2.35 goals against average, sixth best in the league. Oettinger, a first-round selection by the Stars in the 2017 NHL Draft, has won each of his last three starts and is on pace for his fourth consecutive 30-win season.

Dallas leads the league on the penalty kill successfully stopping 85.4% of chances against the man advantage and has allowed just one power play goal in the last 12 games.

Despite scoring just once in the last 12 games, Rangers winger Artemi Panarin leads the team with 16 goals in his first 37 games. Panarin tallied a career-high 49 goals last season en route to his first career 100-point campaign. In 22 career games against the Stars, Panarin has two goals and 18 assists and has collected at least one point in eight of his last nine outings against Dallas.
