Losing streak collide as the Detroit Red Wings open up a two-game road trip in Buffalo against the Sabres on Monday.

Riding a season-longest six-game losing streak the Buffalo Sabres look for their first home win since mid-November as they welcome the Detroit Red Wings into KeyBank Center on Monday night in the third of four meetings this season between the division foes. Detroit is also struggling through a losing skid having dropped five games in a row after back-to-back wins got them to .500 on the season. The Red Wings have lost five of their last six games on away ice and have lost four of their last five trips to Upstate New York dating back to January of 2022.

Detroit is led by a trio of goal scorers led by center Dylan Larkin who has a team-high 12 goals this season. Flanked by wingers Lucas Raymond and Alex DeBrincat have combined for 33 goals through the Red Wings first 27 games as seven on Raymond has eight goals in his last nine games offsetting Larkin’s scoreless stretch that has seen the 2014 first-round pick be held without a goal in seven of his last eight outings.

Despite ranking seventh in the NHL on the power play, Detroit is 29th in the league scoring just 2.48 goals per game. The Red Wings have scored five power play goals in their last six games and are 2-for-6 with the man advantage in the first two meetings against Buffalo this season.

Sabres winger Alex Tuch has at least a point in 12 of his last 16 games and leads Buffalo with 24 points this season. Tuch recorded his 200th career assist in Thursday’s 3-2 overtime loss to Winnipeg.

Home teams have won five straight in this series with four of the last five decided by two or more goals.
