The offense kept rolling after that, scoring three more goals in the third period in a lopsided victory.

Two of those goals came from Noel Acciari, his first two goals of the preseason, lighting the lamp in the first minute and then 10 minutes later. Vasily Ponomarev ended the scoring late in the third with an unassisted, empty-net goal, as Detroit tried to mount a comeback.
Detroit’s only offense in the loss came from Lucas Raymond who scored his second goal of the preseason on a power play assisted by Dylan Larkin and Patrick Kane. Otherwise the Detroit offense was held in check and unable to create any momentum leading to a second straight loss.
In its last two games Detroit has scored a total of four goals. The offense has struggled early with two total goals in the first two periods combined. Getting off to stronger starts on the offensive end today will be a key to Detroit snapping its current two-game losing streak in NHL preseason action.
