Looking to restart their winning ways, the division leading Golden Knights welcome the playoff hopeful Red Wings into Sin City for a nationally televised matchup

Having alternated wins and losses over the last five games, the Detroit Red Wings aim to remain the Eastern Conference Wild Card chase as they take on the Pacific Division leading Vegas Golden Knights inside T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night. The Red Wings are part of a logjam in the East where seven teams are within six points of the final Wild Card spot with 14 games remaining in the regular season as Detroit looks to make its return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in nine years. Vegas has lost four of its last six games and is clinging to a three-point lead over Edmonton in the Pacific as the season enters its final stretch.

Golden Knights center Jack Eichel is eighth in the NHL with his team-leading 82 points this season having posted 13 points in his last 10 games. Eichel, in his fourth year with Vegas, has posted career highs in assist and points this season and is now four points shy of 600 for his career. The number two overall selection in the 2015 NHL Draft, Eichel spent his first five seasons in Buffalo before being traded to Vegas in November of 2021 and has increased his point total every year in the desert.

In his second season with Detroit, winger Alex DeBrincat leads the team with 31 goals marking his fourth career 30-goal season. The 27-year-old Michigan native is now two points away from 500 for his career having skated in his 600th career game in Tuesday’s lost at Washington. DeBrincat has played in 360 consecutive games, fourth most among active players in the NHL.

Detroit won the first meeting this season 3-0 as Petr Mrazek made 18 saves in the shutout home victory.
