The New Jersey Devils look to end a four-game losing streak on this extended road trip when they face-off against the Seattle Kraken on Monday.

The New Jersey Devils look to keep climbing up the Metropolitan Division when they travel to take on the Seattle Kraken. The Devils are only four points behind the Washington Capitals for the division lead. This recent stretch hasn’t helped New Jersey make that climb though after losing four in a row on this tough road trip, which was preceded by a three-game winning streak. New Jersey lost to Carolina and all three California teams. New Jersey most recently lost to the reeling San Jose Sharks 3-2 on Saturday to lose the season series 2-0.

Paul Cotter tied the game at two goals apiece early in the third period for New Jersey. But the Sharks kept grinding and Cody Ceci scored the game-winner with just 25 seconds left in the game. New Jersey outshot San Jose, but Sharks goalie Yaroslav Askarov stepped up big, stopping 28 shots to walk away with the first star of the game. This is the penultimate game of this six-game road trip, as New Jersey has to be itching to get home. The Devils end their road trip at the New York Rangers on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Seattle will try to avoid losing three in a row themselves after dropping one to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, 4-2. The Oilers scored just 57 seconds after the first puck drop and twice in the first five minutes of the game. They were up 3-0 before the Kraken scored their first goal toward the end of the second period by Chandler Stephenson. Jaden Schwartz got Seattle within a goal with an early goal in the third but Edmonton was able to seal the deal with an empty-net goal. It didn’t help that Seattle finished the game with only 17 shots. The Kraken must get off to a much faster start to defend home ice tonight.
