The New Jersey Devils try to end a three-game losing streak when they travel to take on the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.

The New Jersey Devils have an opportunity to climb back to the top of the Metropolitan division standings when they face off against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday afternoon. The Devils are just two points off the division lead from the Washington Capitals and the Sharks have lost 11 of their last 13 games. San Jose is coming off a surprising 2-1 win though against the Tampa Bay Lighting that broke an eight-game losing streak that should give the Sharks some momentum at home in this one.

The Thursday victory was San Jose’s first home win since November. Tyler Toffoli scored in the first period and Mario Ferraro scored what proved to be the game-winner in the second. Tampa scored at the end of the second but couldn’t get any other offense rolling getting shutout in the third. It was a huge turnaround for San Jose who lost 8-1 to the Lightning the month before. This will still be a large uphill battle with the Devils being the -275 favorite but the win was promising.

It should also be noted that the Devils are sliding a bit losing their last three games in a row. New Jersey came out flat to ring in the new year losing on Wednesday 3-0 to the Los Angeles Kings. Goalie Darcy Kuemper got his second shutout of the season stopping all 33 shots to earn the first star. LA won on just 24 shots to earn its third win in a row. It is the first time that New Jersey has lost three straight in regulation all season. This will be a good game to rebound in though after losing the division lead to the Capitals.
