Edmonton looks to equal season-longest win streak as their road trip rolls into Pittsburgh in search of a season sweep of the Penguins.

Winners of 15 of their last 19 games, including four in a row, the Edmonton Oilers continue their four-game road trip on Thursday night as they head into PPG Paints Arena to face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins in search of an eighth straight win in this series. The Penguins have lost six of their last eight games including four games in a row with each of the last three losses coming in overtime or shootout. Edmonton won the first meeting this season back in late-October by a 4-0 score behind three assists by winger Viktor Arvidsson as four different goal scorers lit the lamp in the victory.

Oilers center Leon Draisaitl leads the NHL with 29 goals and is second in the league with 59 points in his first 40 games. The 29-year-old Cologne, Germany native has posted five 100-point seasons in the last six years and is on pace for his fourth career 50-goal season. Draisaitl’s 14-game points streak was snapped in Tuesday’s 4-0 win at Boston and has scored at least one point in 10 of his last 12 outings against Pittsburgh.

Veteran winger Rickard Rakell leads the Penguins with 20 goals this season, his second 20-goal output in three seasons for his second highest goal output since being traded by Anaheim to Pittsburgh at the trade deadline in 2022. Rakell, a first-round selection by the Ducks in 2011, is 16 points away from 500 for his career.

Edmonton has not lost to Pittsburgh since December of 2019 and has shutout the Penguins in two consecutive games winning by identical 4-0 scores.
