Finland and Sweden both look to get their first win of the 4 Nation’s Face-Off on Saturday

Finland and Sweden hit the ice on Saturday afternoon in their second game of the 4 Nations Face-Off. Sweden nearly pulled off the comeback win over Canada in its first game on Wednesday, but lost 4-3 in overtime. It went down early as the Canadiens scored twice in the first period, including a power play goal just 56 seconds into the first period. Jonas Brodin scored the first goal for Sweden to cut the lead to one at 9:33 of the second period. Canada would make it a two goal game late in the second period on a Mark Stone goal. The third period was all Sweden, though, as Adrian Kempe scored 1:54 into the last frame to cut the lead to 3-2. Joel Eriksson would tie the game seven minutes later and the game would head to overtime. The Swedes couldn’t complete the comeback and get the win, though, as Mitch Marner scored 6:06 into overtime to send the Canadiens to the win. Saturday they will look to bounce back and get that first win of the face off.

Finland, though, is looking to keep that from happening as they also try and bounce back from a loss in its first game.

The Fins opened their game with the United States with a goal at 7:31 of the first period to take the lead, but then gave up the last six goals of the game.

They were down just 2-1 heading into the third period, but gave up two goals in the first 26 seconds of the last stanza and could never recover.

It was as disappointing start to the face off for the Fins and they are needing to be much better on Saturday if they want to get their first win.
