With nine games remaining in the regular season schedule, the Montreal Canadiens are positioned on top of a seven-team race for the final Wild Card spot in the National Hockey League’s Eastern Conference as they welcome the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers inside Bell Centre on Tuesday night for the final meeting of the year between the Atlantic Division foes. The Panthers have lost four of their last seven games and are just three points behind Toronto for the division title but have struggled on away ice losing four of their last six road games and are winless against the Canadiens this season.

Montreal center Nick Suzuki is ninth in the NHL with his team leading 54 assists and has a team high 77 points this season after a three-point outing against the Panthers on Sunday. Suzuki, a first-round pick by Vegas in the 2017 NHL Draft, has 25 points in his last 17 games with seven multi-point outings in that span. The 25-year-old Ontario native has posted four consecutive 60-point seasons and will set a career high with his next point breaking his current high of 77 points set last season.

Ranked eighth in the league in goals, Panthers center Sam Reinhart has 36 goals this season with three coming in the last three games. Having scored 31 or more goals in each of his first four seasons in Florida, Reinhart is now just nine goals shy of 300 for his career.

Montreal has won four games in a row in this series dating back to April of 2024 with all four wins coming by two or more goals.
