The Florida Panthers will continue their four-game road trip on Saturday with a game against the New York Islanders.

On Saturday night, the New York Islanders will welcome the Florida Panthers to UBS Arena for an Eastern Conference matchup. The Panthers will look to win their second game in a row after beating the Rangers on Thursday night in a 3-1 victory. The team is now 5-3-1 for a total of 11 points which puts it in first place in the Atlantic Division. Anton Lundell opened the scoring for the Panthers in the first minute of play to give them an early 1-0 lead over the Rangers. Just two minutes later, Carter Verhaeghe extended that lead to put Florida up 2-0. New York countered with a goal two minutes after that to show the Rangers would not be going away. In the second period, Sam Bennett took a shot just inside the blue line and it found its way into the back of the net to make it a 3-1 game. The Panthers held on for the rest of the game to add another three points to their tally.

The Islanders are now in second-to-last place in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 3-2-2 for a total of eight points. The team trails the leading New York Rangers by four points, but the season is young. Last night, the team hosted the New Jersey Devils, playing to a 4-3 victory in overtime. Brock Nelson scored the opening goal for the Islanders in the first period to give his team a 1-0 lead. With less than ten minutes remaining in the first, the Devils tied things up, but Anders Lee scored against to make it a 2-1 game for New York. New Jersey tied the game up yet again in the second, but Kyle Pamieri gave the Islanders the lead again to end the second. The Devils scored the equalizer with only one minute remaining in the game to send it into overtime where Bo Horvat scored the winning goal.

Both teams will now look to carry momentum from their recent wins into Saturday’s contest to hopefully add another three points to their total.
