The Ottawa Senators and the New York Rangers currently hold the two Wild Card spots. On Saturday, the Flyers dropped a tough 5-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Despite goal after goal being scored, the Flyers kept Samuel Ersson in net where he came up with 25 saves on 30 shots.

The Lightning are currently sitting in a playoff position as they hold the second place spot in the Atlantic Division standings behind the Florida Panthers. The team is 38-23-5 on the season for a total of 81 points and trail the Panthers by four points. On Saturday, Tampa Bay played the Boston Bruins, winning easily in a 6-2 victory. Anthony Cirelli finished the game with a brace while Victor Hedman, Nicholas Paul, Darren Raddysh and Brandon Hagel each found the back of the net once. Andrei Vasilevskiy played the full game in net and made 10 saves on the day. The Lightning’s defense was impressive against the Bruins and held them to just 12 shots in the game.

The Flyers and Lightning just met last week in Philadelphia and the Flyers were able to pull off a 4-3 shootout victory, but they really could have used and extra point from an outright win.
