The St. Louis Blues return home to try to get back in this series against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.
The Winnipeg Jets look to take a commanding 3-0 series lead when this first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs shifts to St. Louis when they take on the Blues. This series has been much closer than the last two final scores would indicate. St. Louis led the game going into the third period of the opener but Winnipeg scored three unanswered to complete the comeback. The Jets completely took care of business at home winning Game 2 in another close game to win 2-1. The Jets are now up 5-1 in all matchups this season against the Blues. St. Louis hasn’t beat Winnipeg since early last December. Winnipeg will have the odds in its favor once again even on the road with a -120 line in their corner.

Mark Scheifele took over for the Jets in Game 2 getting involved with both Winnipeg goals, reaching the back of the net scoring the first goal of the game. Then at the beggining of the third period, Scheifele assisted on what turned out to be the game-winning goal by Kyle Connor. It was Connor’s second consecutive game with the game-winner The Blues only goal came just two seconds before the end of the first period by Jimmy Snuggerud on the power play.
The Jets are really turning a corner in this series as they took a 2-0 playoff series lead for the first time in three seasons. The last two playoffs, Winnipeg has won the first game but then lost four straight. Connor Hellebuyck was stellar in net by stopping 21 shots as it was return to form after the opener. Psychality wasn’t the problem for the Blues in Game 2 but they’ll likely have to ramp up their scoring chances to get back in this series when they return home.
