Vegas is coming off a 4-2 loss against the New York Rangers on Sunday after back-to-back overtime losses. Even though Vegas outshot New York, Jonathan Quick was his vintage self earning his 400th win in net stopping 34 shots to earn the first star of the game. Jack Eichel scored both goals of the game for the Golden Knights with the first one of the game coming on the power play. Vegas held a 2-1 lead heading into the third period but that is where the wheels fell off for the Golden Knights with the Rangers tallying three goals, with two coming on the power play.

New York has been playing on fire lately but are coming off a 6-3 loss to the defending champs on Sunday. Before losing to the Florida Panthers, the Islanders had won seven games in a row. The Panthers’ offense was just unrelenting even though the Islanders showed true resilience. Florida scored the first two goals of the game in the first period but New York came roaring back in the second scoring three consecutive goals. But Florida scored four straight highlighted by Carter Verhaeghe’s fourth career hat trick. This should be a very close game considering the opposite trajectories of Vegas and New York. Can the Islanders buckle down and defend home ice?
