Despite the winning streak the Islanders are still in last place in the Metropolitan Division, but they have close to within a point of the Pittsburgh Penguins. They are also just three back of the Flyers and can make a move with another win on Saturday night. The Islanders will wrap up their home stand on Tuesday night against the Colorado Avalanche before they hit the road for a three-game stretch away from home.

The Hurricanes come into Saturday night on a four-game winning streak and are coming off a big 7-4 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night.

The winning streak has pushed their record 30-16-3 on the season and has them in second place in the Metropolitan Division. They are three points up on the New Jersey Devils and eight points back of the first place Washington Capitals.

Saturday’s game is the first of two straight away from home as they will also play at the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.
