The Hurricanes look to strengthen their hold on second place in the division when they visit the Sabres on Tuesday night

The Carolina Hurricanes look to snap a two-game losing streak on Tuesday night when they visit the Buffalo Sabres. The Hurricanes have already clinched a playoff spot, but are trying to secure home-ice advantage in the first round. They currently sit seven points up on the New Jersey Devils for second place in the Metropolitan Division and can all but wrap that spot up with a win on Tuesday night. Tuesday night is the third of a four-game road trip for the Hurricanes that has seen them lose to the Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins. It is the first time they have lost two in a row since the end of February. They had been red-hot as they had won 12 of 14 games, but they have given up five goals in each of the last two games. Tuesday they will look to snap out of their funk and get back in the win column before they wrap up their road trip with a game against the Washington Capitals on Thursday night.

The Sabres are looking to send the Hurricanes to their third straight loss as they try and keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

They have been playing well as they have won four in a row and seven of their last eight games.

It is their best stretch of hockey this season and it has pushed their record to 34-36-6 on the season. They would need a minor miracle to make the playoffs, but they can still get above .500 on the season and that would be a huge accomplishment from where they have been.

They will hit the road for three games starting on Thursday, but they first want to find a way to knock of the Hurricanes.

Regional restrictions may apply.
