The New York Islanders’ (7-7-4) week-long trip to the Pacific Northwest comes to an end with the final game of the four game stretch on Tuesday. To close things out on this swing (but not the full road trip – the Islanders visit the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday) the Islanders head to the Scotiabank Saddledome to take on the Calgary Flames (9-6-3). So far the Islanders have split this trip evenly with a 1-1-1 record.

To start this trip off, the Islanders took the Edmonton Oilers to overtime last Tuesday but ended up losing 4-3. That game was followed by a 5-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday, before coming back to the U.S. on Saturday and losing 3-2 to the Seattle Kraken.

Now, the Islanders will face a Flames team that has won two of its last three games with points in five of its last six. The Flames are also well-rested. They haven’t skated since Friday, when they shut out the Nashville Predators 2-0 at home. Flames goalie Dustin Wolf made 29 saves in that game to pick up his sixth win of the year.

So far this year the Flames have been one of the better defensive teams in the NHL. They come into Tuesday allowing 2.78 goals per game, which ranks top 10 in the league.
