The Winnipeg Jets look to extend their seven-game winning streak on Friday night when they take on the New York Islanders. The Jets have been one of the best teams in the NHL this season and they haven’t let up. They currently sit at 38-14-3 on the season and are two points up on the Washington Capitals for the best record in the league> Tehy are 10 points up on the Dallas Stars for first place in the Central Division and seven points up on the Edmonton Oilers for the top record in the Western Conference. They will hit the road on Saturday to play the St Louis Blues and it will be the first of a stretch of seven out of nine game on the road. They want to get a big win on Friday first against an Islanders team that is fighting to stay in the wild card race in the Eastern Conference.

The Islanders come into Friday with 57 points and three points back of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins for the lsat wild card spot. They also have the Columbus Blue Jackets in front of them and will need to get hot over the last 26 games of the regular season.

They have been playing their best hockey of the season as they have won eight of their last nine to climb back in the playoff chase.

They have a tough two games, though, as they wll also travel to Minnesota to take on the Wild on Saturday night before getting a break for the All Star game.

The Islanders have been led by Bo Horvat and Anders Lee this season. Horvat is leading the team with 21 assists and 40 points. Lee is the team leader with 22 goals and second in points with 39.
