The New York Islanders and New York Rangers renew their rivalry at Madison Square Garden on Monday night

The New York Rangers (30-26-4, 64 points) won for the third time in four games on Sunday night and finish up a home-ice back-to-back on Monday when they host the rival New York Islanders (27-25-7, 61 points) at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers are two points out of the second Eastern Conference wild-card spot with 22 games to play while the Islanders are five points back with 23 games left on the schedule. The Isles come in 27th in the NHL with just 163 goals this season, with center Mathew Barzal on long-term injured reserve with an injured kneecap. He’s been out since Feb. 1.

Jonathan Quick made 35 saves as the Rangers blanked the visiting Nashville Predators 4-0 on Sunday night, passing Chris Osgood for 14th place on the NHL’s all-time wins list with his 402nd. Twenty of Quick’s saves were in the third period. Artemi Panerin opened the scoring with his team-best 24th goal at 8:32 of the first period. Panerin added an assist while J.T. Miller also had a goal and a helper and Mika Zibanejad had a pair of assists.

The Islanders also come off a win over Nashville, posting a 7-4 victory on Saturday. Brock Nelson had two goals and an assist, with Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Casey Cizikas each posting a goal and an assist. Goalie Ilya Sorokin was credited with his first career goal when Predator forward Steven Stamkos sent a pass into Nashville’s empty net in the final seconds.

Panarin also leads the Rangers with 61 points while Ilya Shersterkin is 20-21-2 in 43 starts with a 2.93 goals-against average and .904 save percentage. Anders Lee paces the Islanders with 23 goals and shares the scoring lead with Bo Horvat, each with 42 points. Sorokin has a 22-18-4 record in 44 games and 43 starts, posting a 2.79 GAA and .904 save percentage.
