The Los Angeles Kings will try to stretch their NHL-best five-game winning streak to six games on Tuesday, as they begin a seven-game East Coast road trip against the New York Islanders.
No team in the NHL is hotter right now than the Los Angeles Kings (16-8-3). Over the last two weeks the Kings have won five games in a row (all in regulation), which gives them the longest active winning streak in the NHL. That stretch includes sweeping a three-game homestand against the Ottawa Senators, Dallas Stars, and Minnesota Wild last week. Now the Kings take that show on the road. They’ll begin a seven-game East Coast road trip on Tuesday night when they face the New York Islanders (11-11-7) in interconference action.

For the Kings, it’s been a defensive driven effort during this winning streak. They haven’t allowed more than two goals in a game once during the stretch, as well as in eight of their last nine games. During this five game winning streak they’re allowing just 1.4 goals per game, while scoring 3.6 goals per game.
Meanwhile, the Islanders come in with a little winning streak of their own going. Over the weekend they won both games in a home-road back-to-back, beating the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 on Saturday at home before heading north of the border and beating the Ottawa Senators 4-2 on the road on Sunday. In total, Patrick Roy’s team has points in six of its last seven games.
