The Los Angeles Kings visit Canada’s capital for a Thanksgiving matinee against the Ottawa Senators on Monday.

Monday is Thanksgiving day in Canada and the Ottawa Senators (1-1-0, 2 points) will mark the occasion with a holiday matinee at home against the Los Angeles Kings (1-0-1, 3 points) at Canadian Tire Centre. Ottawa left wing Matthew Highmore is on injured reserve with an upper body injury after spending most of last season in the AHL. The Kings are short veteran defenseman Drew Doughty, who is on long-term IR with a fractured ankle, and winger Arthur Kaliyev is out indefinitely due to a broken collarbone. Both teams come off losses their last time out, though Los Angeles salvaged a point with an overtime loss.

The Senators knocked off the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers in their opener before taking a 4-1 loss on the road to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. Tim Stutzle scored his third goal in two games for Ottawa, who last reached the playoffs in 2017 and were 37-41-4 last season. Former Vancouver Canucks coach Travis Green took over the team this season, replacing interim coach Jacques Martin.

The Kings opened their season with a road win over the Buffalo Sabres before dropping a 2-1 overtime decision as they continued their Eastern trip against the Boston Bruins on Saturday. Trevor Moore‘s first goal of the season gave Los Angeles a 1-0 lead in the second period before the Bruins came back. Darcy Kuemper stopped 23 shots in the loss. The Kings have lost in the first round of the playoffs each of the last three seasons.

The biggest change for Ottawa is the addition of former Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark, while defenseman Nick Jensen and forward David Perron were also added to the young core. Los Angeles brought back Kuemper for a second stint and also brought in forwards Warren Foegele and Tanner Jeannot and defenseman Kyle Burroughs.
