The New York Rangers face a near must-win matchup against the playoff-bound Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday

The New York Rangers (36-33-7, 79 points) are running out of time in the chase for a wild-card playoff berth in the Eastern Conference as they trail the Montreal Canadiens for the final spot by six points with six games remaining. On Monday, the Rangers host the Tampa Bay Lightning (44-26-6, 94 points), who have clinched a playoff berth and are just four points back of the Toronto Maple Leafs for the Atlantic Division lead. New York, which is 10 points behind the New Jersey Devils for the third spot in the Metropolitan Division, has been without big center Matt Rempe since March 25 as he deals with an upper-body injury.
