Division leading Kings open two-game roadtrip against suddenly slumping Flames in Pacific showdown

Winners of eight of their last 12 games, the Los Angeles Kings begin a quick two-game road trip on Monday night as they face off against their Pacific Division foes the Calgary Flames inside the Scotiabank Saddledome. Calgary opened their season on a four-game winning streak but have since lost eight of their last 11 games including three of their last four on home ice as the Flames offense has ran cold failing to score more than three goals in nine consecutive outings. Four has also been the magic number to dethrone the Kings this season as Los Angels is 0-6 when allowing four or more goals this season.

Kings center Anze Kopitar leads the team in points and assists this season having collected nine points in his last eight games. In his 19th NHL season, Kopitar tallied his 800th career assist in a 6-3 home win over Vegas at the end of October. With four multi-point games under his belt already this season, Kopitar is on pace for his 12th consecutive 50-plus point season after posting 70 and 74 points in each of the last two years.

Calgary has a three-way tie atop its goal scoring list as veteran centers Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri along with third-year winger Matt Coronato each have five goals on the season. All three skaters are in their third seasons with the Flames with Coronato having posted a career high in goals after scoring just three goals in his first two seasons with the club.

Both teams have struggled on the power play this season ranking in the bottom third of the NHL with the man advantage as both teams have only two power play goals over their last four games. Despite their struggles on the power play Los Angeles ranks 12th in the league scoring 3.38 goals per game.

The home team has won eight straight games in this series dating back to November of 2022 with the Flames winning each of the last four in Calgary.
