The Lightning have lost two of their last three games but are undefeated at home so far this season as they open a home stand that will see them play three times in the next five days. Minnesota is halfway through its season-longest seven-game road trip having won three in a row, allowing just three goals in that span.

Despite ranking 23^rd on the penalty kill, the Wild have only allowed 1.83 goals per game this season led by goaltender Filip Gustavsson with is 4-0-1 this season with a 1.40 goals against average and a .952 save percentage, which is second-best in the league. Gustavsson, a second-round pick by the Penguins in the 2016 NHL Draft, made his debut with Ottawa in 2020 but was traded to Minnesota in 2022 where he assumed the starting role posting 46 wins in net since the trade.

Lightning winger Nikita Kucherov leads the NHL with seven goals so far this season despite being held without a goal in his last two games. Kucherov, who has spent his entire 11-year career with Tampa Bay, has tallied a point in every game this season and has posted four 100-plus point seasons in the last six years.

Minnesota has won seven of the last 11 meetings in this series but has lost three in a row in Tampa being outscored 16-9 and having allowed four or more goals in each of those three losses.
