The Montreal Canadiens wrap up their West Coast road trip looking to remain in the playoff chase as they face-off against the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday.

Winners of six of their last eight games, the Montreal Canadiens sit just two points out of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference as they wrap up a five-game road trip on Wednesday night against the Seattle Kraken. The Kraken have lost 10 of their last 15 games and are 12 points behind Calgary in the Western Conference Wild Card chase with just 17 games to play, making every game a must-win down the stretch for Seattle to qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs for just the second time in its four-year history. Seattle won the first meeting against Montreal this season 8-2, but have lost two in a row at home to the Canadiens dating back to Dec. 2022.

Montreal winger Cole Caufield ranks eighth in the NHL with his team leading 32 goals this season and has six goals in his last eight games. Caufield was a first round selection by the Canadiens in the 2019 NHL Draft and has posted career-highs in goals every year he has been in the league. The 24-year-old Wisconsin native needs six assists for 100 for his career and is eight points away from breaking his career-high of 65 set last season.

Kraken center Chandler Stephenson has a point in three of his last five games and leads the team with 32 assists this season. Stephenson is a two-time Stanley Cup winner, helping Washington win the title in 2018 and Vegas in 2023, before joining Seattle on a seven-year free agent contract last summer.

Both teams rank in the bottom third of the NHL in goals allowed per game and tend to have higher scoring contests against each other with the winning team scoring four or more goals in all seven previous meetings.
