Looking to solidify their playoff position, the red-hot Hurricanes hope to even the season series against the visiting Predators

After a four-game winning streak to open the month of March, the Nashville Predators have since lost five of their last six and are on the verge of being eliminated from playoff contention as their road trip wraps up in Raleigh on Tuesday night when they face off against the homestanding Carolina Hurricanes. The hottest team in the league, the Canes have won 10 of their last 12 games and own the best home record in the NHL going 27-7-1 inside the Lenovo Center this season. Carolina lost the first game of the season against Nashville 5-2 behind a three-point night from Jonathan Marchessault to give the Predators their fourth win in the last five games against the Hurricanes.

Hurricanes center Sebastian Aho leads the team with 65 points this season and comes into this game with eight points in his last 11 games. Aho, a second-round selection by Carolina in the 2015 NHL Draft, has posted 60 or more points in seven of his last eight seasons and is four goals away from his fourth consecutive 30-goal campaign. The 27-year-old Finland native has 13 goals in 23 career games against the Predators and has scored a goal in each of the last three contests versus Nashville.

The Predators offense has struggled to find a scoring punch this season ranking last in the NHL netting just 2.4 goals per game. Nashville has only two skaters with 20 or more goal with veterans Filip Forsberg and center Steven Stamkos combining for 51 goals on the year.

Carolina has dominated this series at home winning  eight of the last 10 but Nashville has left Raleigh victorious in each of the last two seasons.
