The New York Islanders look to keep their playoff hopes alive as a California road trip sees them face the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.

With four wins in their last five games, the New York Islanders trail the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference by just three points, as they head into Sunday night’s matchup against the Anaheim Ducks in search of a third straight win and their fourth consecutive victory inside the Honda Center. After winning seven of eight games, the Ducks have since lost five of their last seven games and are nine points out of the playoffs with 20 games to play. Anaheim won the first meeting of the season against the Islanders 3-1 behind a goal and an assist from Frank Vatrano, as the Ducks stole a road win back in late October.

After sending center Brock Nelson to Colorado at the trade deadline, the Islanders scoring responsibilities now fall to centers Bo Horvat and Kyle Palmieri, as well winger Anders Lee, who have combined for 128 points so far this season. Lee, a sixth round selection by the Islanders in the 2009 NHL Draft, leads the way with 24 goals this season after scoring a goal in New York’s 4-2 win at San Jose on Saturday. The 34-year-old Minnesota native has posted nine career 20-goal campaigns and comes into this game three points shy of 500 for his career.

Ducks winger Troy Terry leads the team with 47 points after posting a pair of assists against St. Louis on Friday. He scored a goal in the first meeting against New York earlier this season. Terry, in his eighth season with Anaheim, is three points away from his fourth straight 50-point campaign.

New York has won three straight trips to Anaheim dating back to Feb. 2022 and has outscored the Ducks 16-4 during the three-game road winning streak.
