For one final time in the 2024-2025 NHL season, the New York Rangers (36-35-7) and New York Islanders (34-32-11) will meet on Thursday night at UBS Arena in Elmont. So far this year, the rivalry has been one-sided. So far this year the Rangers have swept the series, winning the first three games. Neither team has swept the season series since the Islanders did so by winning all four meetings in 2017-2018. The last Rangers sweep was during the 2003-2004 season – the teams met a total of six times that year.

The first meeting of the year was back in early November. That one saw the Rangers come out on top 5-2. Left winger Artemi Panarin scored twice in that game, and goalie Igor Shesterkin made 35 saves.

In late February the teams met for the second time. The Rangers put up a big number on offense again winning 5-1. Shesterkin made another 36 saves in that game.

The third and most recent meeting was back on March 3. Once again Shesterkin played a key role, making 21 saves and earning the shutout in a 4-0 Rangers win. The Rangers scored twice in the first period and twice in the third period to win that game.
