After having a five-game winning streak stopped last time out, the Washington Capitals should have a little extra motivation when the host the New York Rangers on Tuesday night to kick off a three-game homestand.

The Caps were rolling on both ends of the ice during that stretch, averaging 4.6 goals per game while allowing just 2.6. However, that run came to an end last time out on Saturday, when the Capitals were shut out for the first time this season in a 3-0 loss on the road against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Capitals will be back on the ice for the first time since on Tuesday, when they host the New York Rangers (6-1-1) at Capital One Arena in a matchup of two of the top teams in the Metropolitan Division.

They bounced back on Saturday, beating the Anaheim Ducks 2-1, scoring twice in the third period in the win. goalie Jonathan Quick stopped 32 of the 33 shots he saw in that game.
