Eastern Conference division leaders collide as the Florida Panthers visit the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night.

The Washington Capitals (34-11-7, 75 points) lead the Metropolitan Division but are coming off back-to-back overtime losses as they return home to Capital One Arena on Tuesday night to host the Atlantic Division-leading Florida Panthers (32-19-3, 67 points). The Capitals lost in the first round of last year’s playoffs and haven’t won a series since hoisting the Stanley Cup in 2018. Florida, the defending Stanley Cup champions, have played in the last two Cup Finals and have a run of five straight postseason berths. Winger Mackie Samockevich of the Panthers is day-to-day with an illness while Washington comes in relatively healthy.
