On Wednesday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins (20-24-8) take on the Utah Hockey Club (21-21-7) in interconference NHL action. It’s the first-ever trip for the Penguins to Salt Lake City and the Delta Center. It’s also the final game of a seven-game road trip that began all the way back on Jan. 17 and has mainly had the Penguins on the West Coast. Utah is returning home from a three-game road trip of its own.

The Penguins are 2-4-0 on their current road trip. They have wins over the Buffalo Sabres and Los Angeles Kings and losses to the Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken, and San Jose Sharks. That Sharks game was their most recent outing, on Monday. They nearly pulled to .500 on the trip, but ended up losing 2-1.

Utah went 1-2-0 on its most recent road trip. The team beat the Minnesota Wild before losing to the Winnipeg Jets and Ottawa Senators, with that Senators game being their most recent game, a 3-1 game on Sunday.

Pittsburgh and Utah already played once this season. That was back in late November in Pittsburgh. Utah put up one of its best offensive efforts of the year that night, coming away with a 6-1 win. Right winger Dylan Guenther led the way for Utah in that one with two goals and an assist, with both of his goals coming on the power play.
