Division foes face-off as the Philadelphia Flyers look for their longest winning streak of the season in a trip to face the New York Rangers on Thursday.

On a three-game winning streak and with five wins in their last six games, the Philadelphia Flyers skate into Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night looking to extend their season-long winning streak in a Metropolitan Division showdown against the New York Rangers. The Rangers are on the verge of turning their season around after enduing a span of 15 losses in 19 games to close out 2024, having won seven of 11 games since the calendar rolled into January. This is the second of three meetings this season between the division rivals, with Philadelphia winning the first game 3-1 behind a pair of goals by Travis Konecny.

Travis Konecny leads Philadelphia in goals and assists this season, having posted 12 points in 10 January games with three multi-point efforts in that span. Konecny, a first round selection by the Flyers in the 2015 NHL Draft, posted career highs in points each of the last two seasons and is on pace to shatter his previous high of 68 points set last season and comes into this game five goals away from 200 for his career.

The Rangers own the NHL’s fourth-best penalty killing unit, holding opponents power plays scoreless on 83.6 percent of chances on the man advantage, having held three consecutive opponents with a goal.

The series is split 5-5 over the last 10 meetings at New York, with three of the last four going to overtime. Goals are historically at a premium in this series, with teams having scored five goals or less in five of the last six meetings.
