In search of first road win since January, the Predators skate into Elmont to open road trip against the Islanders.

After snapping a four-game losing streak with a road win at Boston on Thursday night, the New York Islanders return home to UBS Arena on Saturday afternoon to drop the puck on the first of two meetings this season against the Nashville Predators in a rare Saturday matinee. The Predators ended their own losing skid on Thursday upsetting the Western Conference leading Winnipeg Jets and now set their sights on snatching their first win on away Ice since Jan. 23 when they beat San Jose to cap off a season-best five game winning streak. Nashville has lost four straight road games and has been outscored 18-7 in that span.

Predators winger Filip Forsberg leads the team in goals and assists this season and is the lone Nashville skater with 20 or more goals. Forsberg, a first-round selection by Nashville in the 2012 NHL Draft, is the franchise’s all-time leading goal scorer sitting 99 goals ahead of the the next closest Predator. The 30-year-old Sweden native has scored 20 or more goals nine times in his career and is 41 points away from 700 for his career.

Goals we will at a premium in this contest as both teams rank in the bottom six in the NHL in scoring with Nashville sitting 31st in the league posting just 2.55 goals per game. The Islanders own the worst power play in the league converting on just 11.1% of chances with the man advantage and have just one power play goal in their last 12 games.

Nashville has dominated this series of late winning 10 of the last 11 meetings dating back to February of 2018, a streak that the Islanders ended last April shutting out the Predators 2-0 for their first home win against Nashville since 2015.
