A pair of .500 teams coming off losses and collide at the Delta Center on Thursday as the New York Rangers visit the Utah Hockey Club.

The New York Rangers (20-20-3) wrap up a three-game Western swing on Thursday night when they visit the Utah Hockey Club (18-18-7) at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. New York is 1-0-1 to open its trip, while Utah is 1-3-0 on its current seven-game homestand. The Rangers are without sniping left wing Chris Kreider, who is on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, while they did get veteran center Filip Chytil back on Tuesday after he missed two games. Utah placed right wing Dylan Guenther on injured reserve on Friday and he is out indefinitely with a lower-body ailment. Defenseman Robert Bortuzzo has been out since Jan. 2 with a lower-body injury as well.

New York lost a 2-1 lead with 1:13 left in regulation on Tuesday before the Colorado Avalanche got the game-winner with just 37 seconds left in overtime, as the Rangers took a hard-luck 3-2 loss. Sam Carrick scored a shorthanded goal in the first period and assisted on Adam Edstrom’s second period tally. Artemi Panarin paces the club with 17 goals and 45 assists, while Igor Shesterkin is 13-15-2 in 30 starts with a 2.97 goals-against average and .907 save percentage.

Utah led 2-1 after one period on Tuesday against the visiting Montreal Canadiens, but two third period goals led the Habs to a 5-3 victory. Logan Cooley tied the game 3:07 into the third period while Clayton Keller and Nick Schmaltz each had two assists. With Guenther out, Keller is Utah’s leading scorer with 14 goals and 43 points. Karel Vejmelka is 10-12-3 in 27 starts, posting a 2.48 GAA and .912 save percentage.

The Hockey Club is looking to close out a season sweep of the Blueshirts after getting a 6-5 overtime win in New York on Oct. 12.
