These teams already met once before this year, back in early December. That was a high-scoring game that saw the Avalanche come away with a 5-4 win in Buffalo. It was a roller coaster game, as the Sabres got out to a 4-0 lead in the first period before the Avalanche came storming back with five unanswered goals including four in the third period. Colorado center Nathan MacKinnon had a three-point game in that one with two goals an an assist.

Last time out the Avalanche beat the Winnipeg Jets 5-2. That game was tied 2-2 through two periods before the Avalanche scored three unanswered goals in the third period.

With that win, all five of the Avalanche’s wins on this winning streak have come by multi-goal margins. During this stretch the Avalanche are averaging 4.4 goals per game, while allowing just 1.8 goals per game.

The Sabres had won three games in a row before their most recent game on Tuesday when they lost 4-2 on the road against the Dallas Stars. This will be the third game of a four game road trip for Buffalo.
