The Washington Capitals return home on Sunday afternoon to host the Buffalo Sabres. Their bigger race is with the Jets for the top record in the NHL. They currently sit one point back for the best record and home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs. The Capitals will head back out on the road for two games starting on Tuesday against the Boston Bruins, but want to first get a win over a struggling Buffalo team on Sunday. The Capitals have just four home games left this season.

The Sabres are in the middle of a three-game road trip in which they lost the first game on Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers.

They came into Saturday on a three-game winning streak, but they couldn’t hold down the Flyers and gave up seven goals in the loss.

The loss dropped them to 30-36-6 on the season and has them in last place in the Atlantic Division. They are three points back of the Boston Bruins for seventh place and six points back of the Detroit Red Wings.
