The Minnesota Wild wrap up their long seven-game home stand on Saturday afternoon when they play the Buffalo Sabres. The Wild have gone just 3-3 in their first six games at home, but have won their last two against the Los Angeles Kings and Seattle Kraken by a combined 7-1 score. They shutout the Kraken 4-0 on Wednesday to push their record to 39-25-5 on the season and it has them in fourth place in the Central Division. They sit four points back of the Colorado Avalanche for third place in the division and a guaranteed playoff spot. They are still sitting in the top wild card spot, six points up on the St. Louis Blues and seven up on the Vancouver Canucks. They are in good shape to head to the playoffs, but need to keep winning as the Blues are red-hot. The Wild will hit the road to play the Dallas Stars on Monday, but will then return home for three straight on their own ice.

The Sabres come into Saturday looking to bounce back from a 5-2 loss to the Utah Hockey Club on Thursday. The loss to Utah snapped a two-game winning streak and dropped them to 27-34-6 on the season.

Thursday’s game will be the third of a four-game road trip that will see them head to Winnipeg to take on the Jets on Sunday.

The Sabres once again are looking to next year as they sit in last place in the Atlantic Division, nine points back of the Boston Bruins.
