The Winnipeg Jets will try to extend their winning streak to double digit games on Monday night when the San Jose Sharks pay them a visit at the Canada Life Centre.

It’s now been more than a month since the Winnipeg Jets (40-14-3) last lost a game. That loss came on Jan. 20, well before the Four Nations break. Their winning streak has reached nine games, which is far and away the longest active winning streak in the NHL heading into Monday night. They’ll try to extend it to 10 games at on Monday at the Canada Life Centre, when the San Jose Sharks (15-35-7) come to town.

The Jets have outscored opponents by multi-goal margins in five of the nine games on this streak. Over the last nine games they’re averaging 4.2 goals per game, while allowing just 2.1 goals per game.

That streak did come close to ending last time out. The Jets visited the St. Louis Blues on Saturday and the game came down to the wire. Gabriel Vilardi’s second goal of the game tied it with 38 seconds to go before that shootout win. The game ended up going to a shootout – their first shooting of this winning streak (they had two other regulation games).

Meanwhile, the Sharks come in on the second half of a back-to-back on the road. San Jose kicked off a seven game road trip on Sunday night, losing 3-2 to the Calgary Flames. They come in now trying to snap a four game losing streak.
