As part of the late slate of NHL action on Friday night, the San Jose Sharks (13-24-6) visit the Utah Hockey Club (17-16-7) for a Western Conference matchup at the Delta Center. This will be the third and final meeting between these two teams in the regular season with the first two games each decided by one goal. The road team has won each of the first two meetings. In the first game in late October in Utah, the Sharks scored three times in the third period to force overtime, before winning 5-4 as center Alex Wennberg delivered the game winner less than 90 seconds into OT. Left winger Fabian Zetterlund scored two goals in that game for San Jose.

In mid-December, it was the Utah Hockey Club traveling to San Jose and playing spoiler to the host. Utah was down 3-2 midway through the third period. That’s when left winger Michael Carcone tied the game. It wasn’t until the final minute that right winger and captain Clayton Keller scored the game-winner. Keller also had an assist in that game. Utah lost despite dominating the tempo, getting off 40 shots on net to San Jose’s 22.
