The Devils have been dominated by Tampa Bay winning just once in the last 10 meetings including five consecutive losses to the Lightning on their home ice. Prior to the disastrous road trip that saw them win just one of six games, New Jersey has won five straight games at home as they aim for their first win against Tampa Bay since January of 2020.

Tampa Bay leads the National Hockey League in scoring posting 3.69 goals per game led by center Brayden Point who ranks second in the league with his team-high 25 goals. Point, a third-round selection by the Lightning in the 2014 NHL Draft, has scored a goal in two straight games tallying his 600^th career point on a third period power play goal in Thursday’s 4-1 home win against Boston.

Led by goaltender Jacob Markstrom, New Jersey is fourth in the NHL allowing just 2.55 goals per game. Markstrom ranks in the top three in wins, goals against average and shutouts this season despite losing three of his last four starts allowing three goals in each of the defeats.

This is the third and final meeting of the season between the teams with Tampa Bay winning each of the first two matchups by three or more goals. Seven of the last nine games in this series have been decided by three or more goals.
