Team USA takes on Team Finland as each team opens its 4 Nations Face-Off schedule at Bell Centre in Montreal.
The 4 Nations Face-Off opened on Wednesday and continues on Thursday as Team USA and Team Finland play their first games at Bell Centre in Montreal. The tournament is hosted by the NHL and features only NHL players and is replacing the All-Star Game for the 2024-25 season. Team USA is coached by Mike Sullivan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, who will also coach the U.S. during the 2026 Winter Olympics. Finland coach Antti Pennanen leads Ilves in the Finnish Liiga.

Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews captains the U.S. team, with Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy and Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk the alternates. It’s expected that Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck, a two-time Vezina Trophy winner, will get the start in net, with Jake Oettinger of the Dallas Stars and Jeremy Swayman of the Bruins also available.
Aleksander Barkov of Florida is the Finnish captain, with three alternates in Carolina Hurricanes forwards Sebastian Aho and Mikko Rantanen and Stars forward Mikael Granlund. The three goalies on the roster include Juuse Saros of the Nashville Predators, Kevin Lankinen of the Vancouver Canucks and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen of the Buffalo Sabres.
Canada and Sweden are the other team teams in the field and the round-robin schedule will continue through Feb. 17 before the top two finishers meet in the championship game on Feb. 20. The tournament is using standard international scoring, with three points awarded for a regulation win, two for an overtime or shootout victory, one for a loss in overtime or a shootout and no points for a regulation loss.
