With both teams locked into the playoffs, the only thing left to sort out is seeding as the Toronto Maple Leafs begin their final road trip of the 2024-25 National Hockey League season on Sunday evening as they take on the playoff bound Carolina Hurricanes in the third and final meeting of the campaign. The Maple Leafs have won six of their last seven games including two in a row after an overtime winner in Saturday night’s home matchup against Montreal to pull four points ahead of Tampa Bay in the Atlantic Division race and can clinch the division title with a win or a Lightning loss.

Maple Leafs winger Mitch Marner has at least a point in 11 of his last 13 games after scoring the game winner in overtime on Saturday and is now within two points of breaking his career high and securing his first career 100-point campaign. Marner, in his ninth season in the NHL, has posted a career high 72 assists this season and is now four goals away from his third career 30-goal season. A first-round pick by Toronto in 2015, Marner is third in the NHL in assists and fifth in points.

Led by center Seth Jarvis, Carolina ranks seventh in the league scoring 3.27 goals per game despite sitting 25th on the power play. Jarvis was the 13th overall selection in the 2020 NHL Draft and has scored a goal in back-to-back games posting five points in that span.

Carolina has dominated this series of late winning five of the last six overall and four of the last five contests inside the Lenovo Center dating back to October of 2021.
