Golden Knights look to maintain hold on Pacific Division lead as road trip rolls into Raleigh to face off against the Hurricanes

Riding a two-game losing skid, the Carolina Hurricanes return to the Lenovo Center on Friday night as they welcome the Pacific Division leading Golden Knights into Raleigh in search of their second consecutive season sweep of Vegas. The Golden Knights have lost three of their last four games including the opening contest on their current three-game road trip at Nashville on Tuesday as they attempt to end a three-game losing streak to the Hurricanes dating back to December of 2023. Carolina has outscored Vegas 14-6 over the last three meetings winning two of the three games on away ice and have won two of the last three meetings in this series at home.

Golden Knights center Jack Eichel ranks fifth in the National Hockey League with his team-high 43 assists and is ninth overall with 54 points on the season. Eichel, the second overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, has at least a point in eight of his last 11 games with four multi-point games in that span. After helping to bring a Stanley Cup title to Vegas in 2023, Eichel posted his second straight 60-point campaign and is on pace to shatter his career high of 82 points set with Buffalo in 2019.

With a team-leading 51 points, Carolina center Martin Necas has seven points in his last nine games and had a point in the Canes 5-2 win at Vegas back in mid-November.

Carolina owns the league’s second-best penalty kill stopping 85.1% of chances against the man advantage having not allowed a power play goal in three consecutive games. Conversely, the Vegas power play is fourth in the NHL scoring on 26.2% of chances and has four power play goals in their last three games.
