Undefeated Golden Knights open three-game road trip in D.C. against the Capitals
Sparked by an electric offense, the Vegas Golden Knights enter Tuesday night’s matchup against the Washington Capitals undefeated after three consecutive home victories as they visit the nations capital to face off against Alexander Ovechkin in a rematch of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final. The Golden Knights have scored 15 goals through the first three games and is converting on 33.3% of its power play opportunities, ranking fifth in the NHL. Washington dropped its season opener on Saturday 5-3 to New Jersey and is in the middle of a three-game home stand before hitting the road for the first time this coming Saturday.

Ovechkin comes into tonight 41 goals shy of tying Wayne Gretzky for the NHL’s all-time goal scoring lead off his third consecutive 30-plus goal scoring season. The number one overall pick in the 2004 NHL Draft, Ovi has spent his entire career with the Capitals, and has 13 40-goal seasons, nine 50-goal seasons, and a career high 65 goals scored back in the 2007-08 campaign.
Vegas center Jack Eichel leads the NHL with six assists so far this season after posting four helpers in the season opening 8-4 win over Colorado on Wednesday. In his fourth season with the Golden Knights, Michael has not tallied 40 or more assists since being traded from Buffalo but is on pace to obliterate his career high of 54 assists he tallied with the Sabres in 2018-19.
Since Washington hoisted the Stanley Cup in Vegas back in 2018, the Capitals have won just three of the last 10 games against the Golden Knights with all three wins coming inside Capital One Arena.
