Both teams had an extra day of rest leading up to this game, with Minnesota last playing on Sunday and Toronto having been off since Saturday. Minnesota will be playing the second game of a five-game road trip. To start the trip on Sunday the Wild visited the Chicago Blackhawks and came away with a 4-2 win. Minnesota took command early, scoring twice in the first eight minutes and putting up three unanswered goals in the first 31 minutes. Left winger Matt Boldy didn’t hit the back of the net himself, but was a key player dishing three assists.

The Maple Leafs were on the road last time out, in a rivalry matchup against the Ottawa Senators. They dropped that game 2-1 and have now lost two in a row after winning three consecutive games last week.

This is the second meeting of the season between the Wild and Maple Leafs. The first game in Minnesota back in early November went to overtime, where Boldy delivered a game-winning goal in a 2-1 final.
