The Winnipeg Jets try to start the season 3-0-0 when it takes on the Minnesota Wild on Sunday. Watch free on Fubo.

The Winnipeg Jets look to stay undefeated in the early season and go for their third consecutive win when they host the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night. Both wins for the Jets were not created equal though. Winnipeg dominated in its first game of the season beating the Edmonton Oilers 6-0. Goalie Connor Hellebuyck had a lot to do with that stopping all 30 shots he saw. Hellebuyck was even more important in net for Winnipeg in its next game as the Jets won 2-1 against Chicago. This time Hellebuyck stopped 25 shots to become the third star of the night.

Mark Scheifele was the biggest hero of the night helping rally the Jets after they weren’t able to score for most of the game. Scheifele scored with just 1:04 left in regulation. As if tying the game wasn’t enough with so little time left, Scheifele made sure that goal wouldn’t go to waste by beating Chicago while earning the tie-breaking goal just 38 seconds into the extra period. It was a milestone goal besides just winning the game as it was Scheifele’s 300th career goal. It has been all or nothing with this team so far to open the season so Winnipeg will likely be hoping for more balance tonight.

Minnesota was so close to opening the season undefeated but it lost a close game against the Seattle Kraken. Mats Zuccarello scored the first goal of the game and it notched as his 200th of his career. The game was very back-and-forth from there but Minnesota took a late lead when Ryan Hartman put the Wild up 4-3. But the Kraken didn’t have any quit in them and sent the game into overtime with a goal from Jared McCann. No team scored in the extra frame and this game went into a shootout on Saturday. Zuccarello scored the first goal of the shootout as well but it was the only goal the Wild would grab allowing Jordan Eberle to get the game-winning goal.
