Central Division leading Jets look to close out road trip on a winning streak as they face off against the streaking Hurricanes

After an 11-game winning streak the Winnipeg Jets fumbled through a three-game losing skid before rebounding to win a pair of games on their current four-game road trip that wraps on Sunday afternoon in Raleigh when they take on the Carolina Hurricanes in the second of two games between the teams this season. The Canes have won four of their last five games behind stout defense that has held five consecutive opponents to three goals or less. Goals will be at a premium in this matchup as both teams rank in the top ten in the National Hockey League allowing less than 2.71 goals per game.

Powered by the NHL’s top ranked power play unit, the Jets offense is third in the league scoring 3.52 goals per game exploding for 10 goals in their last two outings. Winger Kyle Connor and center Mark Scheifele have combined for 68 goals this season and have collectively tallied eight points during the last two games. Scheifele, a first-round selection by the Jets in 2011, has posted 60 or more points in 10 consecutive seasons and is on pace to break his career high of 84 set during the 2018-19 campaign. 

After acquiring and then trading Mikko Rantanen in the last two months, the Hurricanes offense again flows through center Sebastian Aho who leads the team with 60 points this season. Aho, who has spent his entire nine-year career with Carolina, has seven 60-point seasons in the last eight years and is six goals shy of his sixth 30-goal campaign.

Winnipeg has won four of the last five games in this series including each of the last three as they go for the second consecutive season sweep of Carolina.
